Making donations to the Child Life program

Charitable gifts bring joy and healing to children at Advocate Children’s Hospital. Your generous donations support our Child Life team in providing therapeutic activities like medical play, art and music therapy, and animal-assisted therapy.

These activities help children cope with their hospital experience and promote emotional well-being. From aquatic relaxation tanks to bedside games and toys, every contribution makes a meaningful difference. Thank you for helping us nurture the spirits of our young patients!

The 2024 Holiday Donation Season is here!

To ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and families and make it easier for donors to plan their deliveries, donations will only be accepted on our designated drop-off dates on both hospital campuses, listed below.

  • Saturday, December 14 from 9AM-1PM
  • Wednesday, December 18 from 3PM-7PM

Our teams will be onsite at our locations in Park Ridge and Oak Lawn to receive donations curbside. Please click here to visit our flyer to learn more details.

Please note the following guidelines when planning your donation:

  • All items must be brand new, in original packaging and not gift wrapped.
  • Gift card denominations of $15 or less are preferred.
  • Items we cannot accept:
    • Stuffed animals, blankets, clothing, and handmade items due to infection prevention protocols.
    • Toys, games, books, etc. with religious or violent themes, including Nerf guns.
    • Any electronics including gaming systems, televisions and computers.

What is needed most?

Our team has created Amazon Wish Lists where you can find items of greatest need. These lists are updated regularly and can be shipped directly to our teams. Please contact Amy Valenzio at amy.valenzio@aah.org to fill out a gift-in-kind form and receive a tax receipt for your donation.

The Child Life department thanks all of our donors who have generously helped make our programs possible – including the many community groups and organizations who provide continuing support and donations. Your donations – whether during the holidays or any time of year – help us meet our goals of supporting children’s emotional and developmental needs while they receive health care.

To make an in-person, curbside donation at any time throughout the year or if you have any questions please reach out to Amy Valenzio at amy.valenzio@aah.org.
