Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Training Program
The Division of Neonatology at Advocate Children’s Hospital offers a three-year fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine, accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Through a curriculum that focuses on meeting the career goals of the individual fellow, we are committed to providing a comprehensive fellowship program that offers the best educational, clinical and research experience available to launch a successful career in neonatology. Our program is designed to equip fellows with the education and skills needed to manage a wide range of neonatal diseases, an awareness of neonatal outcomes, the teaching skills to train others, and the research training that will promote their contribution to the field of neonatology.

The mission of our the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship is to train fellows to become compassionate Neonatologists committed to personal and clinical excellence, scholarship, lifelong learning, and teaching, with the goal of achieving best patient outcomes while fostering a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellness.
Aims
The aim of our program is to create and maintain a respectful and supporting environment in which trainees are encouraged to learn:
- The evidence-based approach to diagnosis and management of disorders arising in the antenatal, perinatal, and neonatal period while providing excellent clinical care to newborns with different disease severities in order to be proficient in working in all levels of NICUs.
- The technical and procedural skills necessary to care for critically ill newborns and young infants.
- The research skills required to pursue a career in research and help contribute to the body of knowledge in neonatology.
- To manage the ethical, psychological, and emotional complexities in the care of sick neonates and their families, including areas of shared decision making and parental discretion, in a compassionate and caring environment.
- To be lifelong learners and teachers to their patients, families, and fellow physicians while fostering a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and wellness.
