While kidney diseases are more common in adults than children, some conditions may affect your child. The first signs of adult kidney disease are often seen in childhood and adolescence. The Nephrology Clinic at Advocate Children’s Hospital provides evaluation and management of a wide range of kidney (nephrologic) and metabolic disorders.
While kidney conditions in children can be serious, they are often treatable and manageable. Our nephrology specialists are highly experienced in providing family centered care for children with renal disorders. The clinic provides comprehensive diagnostic testing and evaluation, along with the most advanced treatments, for both acute and chronic kidney conditions. Your child will also have access to our full-service dialysis program.
- Our full-service dialysis program includes hemodialysis, plasmapheresis, peritoneal dialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy.
- Dialysis and plasmapheresis are available for both acute and chronic conditions.
- Children in our clinic have access to pediatric ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and specialized hypertension management.
- Renal biopsies may be performed when indicated, and results are reviewed by both pathology and nephrology to aid in diagnosis and development of an individualized therapeutic plan for your child.
