Welcome to the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Neonatal-Perinatal Fellowship Program at Advocate Children's Hospital – Park Ridge.

As you read through the following program description, I think you will see that my colleagues and I at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital provide our neonatal-perinatal fellows a truly unique experience. We provide our fellow trainees not only a rich and diversified clinical experience in the care of the sick newborn and high-risk pregnancy, but also provide this within a framework that is founded upon the latest in laboratory and clinical sciences, a comprehensive program for quality improvement and the skills necessary to becoming a lifelong learner and a teacher and advocate for the needs of the sick newborn.

As you continue to read through this program description, you will see that the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Neonatal-Perinatal program provides the necessary patient load and mentoring to help achieve clinical and academic excellence. Our busy NICU exposes fellows to a variety of pathology, ECMO, Total Body Cooling and, through Center for Fetal Care, to management of high-risk pregnancies and fetal surgery. Our Developmental Follow Up program is the busiest and most comprehensive program in Illinois, with more than 1,000 patient visits each year. We are firm in our commitment that learning about neonatal care includes understanding the impact of the perinatal and neonatal period on children and concern for the total child.

All of this occurs on the Advocate Children's Hospital – Park Ridge campus in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and is augmented by a strong collaborative academic relationship with Rosalind Franklin/Chicago Medical School. If you are interested in preparing for a career in neonatal-perinatal medicine, you will not want to miss the opportunity to visit our program, and to observe firsthand one of the strongest training programs in the Chicago metropolitan area.
