Cerebral palsy care
Find a doctorHelping kids be kids
With seemingly endless energy, kids are always on the move. But for children with cerebral palsy, moving about freely is not always so simple. Advocate Children’s Hospital is committed to helping children with cerebral palsy enjoy their childhoods to the fullest – despite their neuromotor challenges. As one of the most common congenital disorders of childhood, cerebral palsy affects about 500,000 children and adults of all ages in the United States. While there is currently no cure for cerebral palsy, we provide dedicated, multidisciplinary care to help these children live full, happy and productive lives.
Because cerebral palsy affects a number of systems – including muscle tone, movement and motor skills – managing the disease requires a multidisciplinary team of specialists. Our patients typically work with a developmental pediatrician, pediatric physical therapist and occupational therapist. They also have access to speech and language therapists, dietitians and other specialist referrals, including orthopedic surgery.
Referral by an Advocate Children's Hospital physician is required for these services.
